To install »pulseaudio-equalizer«:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:nilarimogard/webupd8 
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install pulseaudio-equalizer

Just published a variant of this applet updated to recognize and support the newer LADSPA version of pulseaudio-equalizer. There is a README.md file inside the package which provides some help in building and/or installing either of the equalizer versions. Please read that file carefully before installing the applet. Please note the version of pulseaudio-equalizer that ships by default with the OS does NOT work with this applet and should be uninstalled prior to installing one of the alternate versions. Version 1.0.0 of this variant has only been tested in Mint 19.2/Cinnamon 4.2 with pulseaudio-equalizer-ladspa v3.0.2 built from current sources. The new version of the applet is here: https://github.com/Drugwash2/Equalizer2 Important note: in case the system appears to hang after enabling or restarting the applet try to reload Cinnamon by pressing Ctrl+Alt+Esc (if that shortcut is enabled in your configuration).

19.3 not working either, with pulseaudio-equalizer installer. It would be useful an alert when the dependencies are not installed.

I tested a bit further. pulseaudio-equalizer itself doesn't open at all. Probably it doesn't understand HDMI audio, just as alsamixer.

Doesn't work on Mint Cinnamon 19.1 When I click on the icon only a thin black line appears above the icon. Maybe this is supposed to be a dialog, but is reduced to a width of 1 pixel.

[LM Cinnamon 19.1] I have pulseaudio-equalizer installed but it won't show anything when I click on it. Any advice?

EU/DE - 19.07.2018_ Der Equalizer hat bei mir unter LM18.X perfekt gearbeitet, aber aktuell mit LM19 leider nicht kompatibel. US - 2018/07/19_The equalizer worked perfectly under LM18.X, but currently not compatible with LM19.
