NB: The version uploaded here is for Cinnamon 1.6 and only relevant if you use fedora or the Cinnamon Nightly PPA on Ubuntu/Mint. The old versions tailored for Cinnamon 1.4 are still available here: Ambiance Ubuntu, Ambance Mint & Ambance Elementary. You can see what Cinnamon version you're using in Ubuntu/Mint with this terminal command: "dpkg -s cinnamon" - look for "Version" in the package output.

A stylish dark grey theme distantly related to the Ambiance gtk theme. It includes a Mint green, an elementary blue and an Ubuntu orange version.

This theme is better than a Ubuntu theme. Brilliant theme bimsebasse
Thanks for this theme bimsebasse, very nice!!
Beautiful theme, bimsebasse. Nice match for the Mint-Z theme. Makes Cinnamon look all that more "complete" if you know what i mean.
I'm seeing a problem with this and every other theme that's been made compatible with Cinnamon 1.3 so far on two very different machines (quad core desktop PC with Nvidia GT 430 video card and Thinkpad R61 laptop with dual core with Intel X3100 graphics). When first logging in the MintUpdate Icon in the tray is huge while the others remain normal size. This huge icon "buries" the rest of the icons on the tray below the edge of the display while the other icons on the left side of the panel are normal size and remain in place. Switching from a Cinnamon 1.3 compatible theme to a 1.2 compatible theme returns icons to normal. Switching back to a 1.3 compatible theme the icons still remain normal size until the next login. Restarting Cinnamon (alt + F2 "r") with the 1.3 compatible theme still selected (with the huge MintUpdate icon showing) does not correct the problem. This problem also occurs with a 1.3 compatible theme (with the MintUpdate icon normal size) when opening MintUpdate, typing in your password (Panel disappears) and letting it reload . Once MintUpdate has reloaded the panel reappears and the MintUpdate icon is huge again. if you just open MintUpdate (password box appears, panel disappears) and hit "Cancel" the MintUpdate icon remains normal size. Here's a screenshot of of the problem using the Ambiance Mint theme (also seen using the 1.3 compatible "Eleganse" and "ElementaryOS" themes: http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/109/hugemintupdatetrayicons.jpg/ I'm going to submit a bug report on Github but I thought I post it here as well in case you'd like to confirm it for yourselves.
Sorry for the crammed together comment. This comment section doesn't seem to recognize paragraph tags or breaks.
This is fixed in upcoming 1.3.1, no need to alter the theme.
Nice, cheers clem :o)
It currently does not work with sound manager (with a media player open), does it?
Does here - themes shouldn't influence how applets work, only how they look.
But I was having some problems ): The sound applet worked ok while no media player was active, but whenever I opened one, the sound applet with the music controls etc wouldn't show anymore (actually, what was shown instead was a tiny black rectangle). Noticing that I was not having this issue with cinnamon's default theme, I decided to replace ambiance elementary's cinnamon.css lines about the sound applet with the corresponding lines from the default theme, and only then this issue was solved (at the cost of losing particularities from this theme). It is weird that it looks like I'm the only one who had this problem o.o
I would try to fix it if I could reproduce the issue :o/ . I use the sound/music applet all the time and hasn't run into any issues, it looks like this all the time: http://i.imgur.com/HYKAl.png
Now I tried again with today's version and I could manage to solve this issue without editing the .css Without a media player, it looks like this: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/7299830/without_player.png With a media player, it looked like this: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/7299830/with player.png The only thing i needed to do is to add to the theme cinnamon's folder these icons from the original theme: player-paused.svg, player-playing.svg and player-stopped.svg. After restarting cinnamon, it was fixed -> http://dl.dropbox.com/u/7299830/with_player_2.png
OOOH, I figured out maybe it could be because i'm not using the "right" method for switching themes (by cinnamon settings > themes), I'm removing the /usr/share/cinnamon/theme every time and replacing with the theme contents (because the theme switcher doesn't work with me ;/). Maybe using the right method, when the engine doesn't find a icon on the current theme, it simply looks up on the default icon. But since i'm replacing the default theme, the default icon would simply not exist :/ If i'm right, i'm sorry for the trouble i caused to you D:
Eeeeh, it was that ._. to the kids reading this, don't try to replace your /usr/share/cinnamon/theme folder!
Hehe, yeah don't mess with the default theme folder :o)
Great theme Bimsebasse... my favourite so far! Graces my desktop!
Another beautiful theme bimsebasse! Text in the panel is perfectly centered (vertically) as well. One question: Is the active workspace switcher applet box supposed to contain the theme color (green, blue or purple) rather than the number of the workspace ('1' for example)?
Yes, I tried to recreate how the workspace switcher looked in Gnome 2 in Ubuntu and Mint, there were no numbers in the squares then and unless you use something like 8 or more workspaces they're not really necessary. If you miss them just open cinnamon.css, navigate to the worksapce switcher section and change the relevant "color: ..." to e.g. "color: #000;" (black text)
Great theme, where can I get a minty green version of ubuntu's ambience window theme to match this
Not available Captain but I thought about creating one when I did the Cinnamon theme, might do it one of these days
Extremely good looking, best theme! Coming from Ubuntu and using it with Ubuntu colors. Feel right at home.
bimsebasse, in Linux Mint 13, I have installed this theme. But, to make it look like regular Ubuntu theme I also have to change Window, Icon & GTK+ theme. I installed human-theme & humanity-icon-theme but for GTK+ theme, how do I do that? I now have a green look with Mint-X and that's not what I'm looking for.
This nice Ambiance Cinnamon theme I use with Ubuntu 12.04. However with Cinnamon Settings: Text scaling factor 2.0 (because of visibility problems), scrolling down the menu lists of various panel applets will give a wobbly deformation whilst passing the transition between two items with the mouse pointer. At the same time the focussed item is out of line. This occurs with all scaling factors > 1.0. There is not such a problem with menu lists within windows.
Panel, menu and system tray shown without any text and with huge icon on cinnamon 1.5.8-2 and higher. Please fix, because your theme very good. Thanks.
Fixed :o)
Only theme without glass working for me in cinnamon 1.6, Thank you very much.
Hi bimsebasse, you're missing the checkbox and radio buttons.
5 stars, wow this is really nice. very smooth.
this is my favorite theme of yours bimsebasse. I might have to make my own version of this style
Great theme, really slick
@psaradon I found that the wobbly effect can be fix by commenting line 125 and 127 in file cinnamon.css. So the block of code should look like this: .popup-menu-item:active { background-gradient-direction: vertical; background-gradient-start: #f58254; background-gradient-end: #ea703f; /* border: 1px solid transparent;*/ box-shadow: inset 0px 1px 1px rgba(255,255,255,0.2); /* padding: 4px 22px;*/ padding: .4em 1.75em; transition-duration: 150; } Sheers
Thanks Jefe, you are a great help for me with this solution!
Elegant.
